We have several open positions to work at The H.E.A.R.T. Program and join our dedicated and compassionate team.

HEART Summer Internship Coordinator
This 8-week (June-July 2020), 35-hour per week summer internship is paid at the rate of $10 per hour (up to a total of $2,750) and sponsored by ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP).

The coordinator will assist with teaching the curriculum, provide administrative support, and work on hands-on training activities with H.E.A.R.T. summer participants who are individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The coordinator will also create a step-by-step activity procedure binder for training areas. This internship takes place primarily at H.E.A.R.T.’s summer program located in Houston Food Bank, with some travel to the main office and off-site concessions locations.

Mandatory Qualifications
– Must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a college or university;
– Must be a returning full-time sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate student in the fall of 2020;
– Must not be related to any staff or board member at The H.E.A.R.T. Program, ExxonMobil, or Sunwest Communications; and
– Must be available to work on: July 4 and weeks of June 1, June 22, and July 27.

VTS-Vocational Training Specialist
Are you looking for an entry level position in the non-profit field? Have you wondered how to get your foot in the door with a job that helps others? Our organization is now conducting a search for a great candidate and all-around team player to join our growing team as what we call a VTS (Vocational Training Specialist).

What this position involves is cashiering at exciting events such as the Houston Rockets basketball games and making pizzas at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The best part? You are actually helping others in this position by being a role model and a helper for those with special needs who are learning these jobs. In this position, you will be assisting with vending machine and concessions training for adults with special needs, traveling to job sites and supervising their work, assisting with teaching job skills, and providing other duties as needed.

Experience with cashiering, vending machines, and/or concessions will be a plus. This job involves FREQUENT evening, weekend and holiday work with occasional daytime hours as well. The job is scheduled based on 40 hours per week.

VTS-Vocational Training Specialist (HFB)
The H.E.A.R.T. Program is looking for a top-notch individual to join our team as a VTS (Vocational Training Specialist) for adults with developmental disabilities!

This job is based primarily at the Houston Food Bank located at 535 Portwall and involves working on vending machines, food preparation, warehouse activities, food pantry, community gardening, and other programs to teach adults with special needs different skills. You will also be assisting with vending machine and concessions training for adults with special needs, traveling to job sites and supervising their work, assisting with teaching job skills, and providing other duties as needed.

Experience with cashiering, vending machines, and/or concessions will be a plus. Experience driving in a professional setting will be a plus. The starting salary will depend on the experience of the successful candidate.
